Bonnie S. Brennen
Dr. Bonnie S. Brennen,
Professor of Journalism, assumed the role of Vice Provost for
Faculty Affairs effective August 15, 2005.
In Fall 2004, Dr. Brennen joined Temple as
Professor and Chair of the Department of Journalism in the
School of Communications and Theater. We were pleased to
recruit her from the University of Missouri, one of the top
journalism programs in the country. Her scholarly work
centers on journalism history and cultural studies.
Dr. Brennen is a prolific scholar. She has
published one book, two edited books, and a number of journal
articles, book chapters, and book reviews. She has also
presented papers at many national conferences and served as
guest editor for three journals. Dr. Brennen is also a
well-regarded teacher and has performed valuable service
activities to her profession, school and department. In
addition, Dr. Brennen has extensive professional corporate
communications experience in the private sector prior to
coming to academia.
Although she is a relatively recent addition to
the Temple family, Dr. Brennen brings experience in faculty
affairs at the University of Missouri and has already served
as a member of the Provost’s Advisory Committee on Tenure
andPromotion at Temple. She is a highly recognized and
prominent educator and scholar in the field of journalism and
mass communications.
